Introduction

The Danish Working Environment Authority (WEA) deals with occupational health and safety and works to promote safe working environments in Danish workplaces. The purpose of the register is to provide the basis for a statistical and scientific analysis of reported industrial injuries. The WEA draws up annual reports on industrial injuries which cover reported industrial accidents and industrial diseases. That is, physical and mental health injuries, which are wholly or partly due to the work.

Every year, around 70,000 industrial injuries are reported to the WEA and Labour Market Insurance (formerly the industrial injury authority), and these are registered in WEA's Industrial Injury Register.

In addition to reported industrial injuries, the data is also supplemented with employment figures from Statistics Denmark's register-based employment statistics (RAS), giving the numbers of people in employment.

The Industrial Injury Register makes annual reports of occupational injuries. These annual reports describe how occupational injuries are dispersed according to gender, age and industry. In addition, the Industrial Injury Register makes calculations of how much occupational accidents cost the state and employers, respectively.
