Introduction

The Danish Blood Donor Study (DBDS) is a research project that gathers data consisting of blood samples and also information from questionnaires that all participants are asked to complete.

The aim of DBSD is also to investigate whether blood donation affects health together with other more general issues in healthcare and disease. In 2017, DBDS agreed a collaboration with ”deCODE genetics” on Iceland on analysing the significance of genetic issues for various diseases The expectation is that in time it should be possible to intervene earlier, make diagnosis more precise and provide the right treatment to individual patients.

DBSD started in 2010 and now has more than 110,000 healthy blood donors.
