Introduction

The Register of Preventive Measures brings together various national health registers and registers of the population's socio-economic issues, including education, income and occupation. The register therefore makes it possible to elucidate the interrelationship between socio-economic issues and a whole range of health data.

The purpose of the register is to enable Statistics Denmark, the Ministry of Health and the Danish Health Authority to elucidate the healthcare issues in Denmark quickly and efficiently. The aim is also to make data available for socio-medical research.

The register contains data on everybody who has or has had residence in Denmark since 1977 and is based on data from the National Patient Register (LPR) and multiple registers in Statistics Denmark. By comparing individual citizens' health data with education, marital, social and occupational issues, it is possible to draw a precise picture of the general status of the population's health.
